Quick Team Information
-
SKC is and inclusive team that consists of riders in grades 6-12 both boys and girls. All skill levels are accepted and there are no cuts.
-
The team has 10+ volunteer coaches that bring a great collective of knowledge and experience to assist the athletes. We strive to have a coaching ratio of 1:6 or 2:8. Coaches are trained as level 1,2 or 3. While all levels include basic skills training, concussion training and background checks, the more advanced levels include more specific skills training, first aid and CPR and leadership training.
-
Practices are typically held three days a week July-October. Tuesday & Thursday 5:30-7:30pm and Sunday 3:00-5:00pm, weather and daylight permitting. While practice attendance is optional, coaches encourage a minimum attendance of two days per week to advance in the sport.
-
Parents and athletes will be responsible for providing transportation to/from all practices and events.
-
Currently students will represent the Composite Team known as Southern Kettles, Mukwonago or Muskego. More school specific teams may be added with additional participation within the club region.
-
Communication with coaches and riders occurs through Stack TeamApp, as well as schedule sharing and updates.

Equipment: Riders are required to have their own bike that meets NICA and WI MTB rules, helmet (to be worn at all times), and closed toe shoes. Weather appropriate clothing, water bottle/hydration pack, bike tools and extra tire tube and snacks, sunscreen and bug spray are also encouraged. For Racing: no reflectors, open handle bar ends, kickstands, plastic reflectors or single speed bikes.
-
Uniforms: Helmets and closed toed shoes are required for practice, but otherwise just athletic wear. Loose fitting clothing is discouraged for riding. For races, the club offers a full kit including a jersey and padded shorts, however, the League only requires a top that clearly identifies the team. Team kits and spirit wear shirts will be available for purchase after the start of the season.
-
Costs: Required initial costs for annual registration, park stickers (practice locations), and a jersey are around $300. Five optional races are offered during the season and registration is $50 per race. Additional fees including team clothing, spirit wear/gear and race camping will be offered as well. Scholarships for NICA, WI League and team fees are available and gently worn pre-owned jerseys might also be available.
